Well, I had a situation recently where I tried to kick someone out of my apartment for not paying rent. When I told him he had to go, he tried to sucker punch me. I pushed him away from me and called the Police. He tried to start a fight with me and my friends before the Police arrived. When the Police got there, he tried to tell the Police that we (my two friends and I) had held him and his girlfriend against his will and beat them up with our fists and sticks. Since the man and his girlfriend did not have any marks on them, the Police thought he was lying. The Police escorted the two of them from my apartment. This didn't stop the scumbag and his girlfriend from lying to a Justice of the Peace and having me charged with 'Forcible Confinement' (for telling him to leave) and 'Assault with a weapon' (for using the cane I walk with to push him away from me when he tried to punch me in the face.) Eventually, the courts looked at the case and tossed it out. It took the courts a year to actually look at the charges. If I had been found guilty of these charges, it might have meant eighteen months for me in jail. It was kind of surprising to me, but SCUMBAGS like this have no problems spiking someone's else's drink, and then if you punch them out or try to use physical force to try and stop them, they have no problems using the Police and the courts against you. They will try to claim that you hit them 'for no reason', and try to have you charged with assault. So if you aren't careful, you might also end up having to explain to the Police and/or a court of Law why you had to beat the shit out of this guy. Generally they do not consider 'to teach him a lesson' to be a valid reason. Punching the guy out to stop him would be considered reasonable force, since his actions were endangering someone else and you had to stop him immediately. Taking him out back and beating the shit out of him would be seen by the Police and by the courts as 'excessive force.' Especially if you had to explain your actions as 'doing this to punish him'. Sick and twisted fucks like this might also obsess about 'revenge' against you if you try to stop them. If they think that you are tougher than them, they might get some friends to help them 'get even' against you. Also, you should only try to punch them out if you have some degree of training with it. A uppercut is fast, powerful and generally not seen but if you aren't practiced with it then you might be 'telegraphing' your shot. Also, people like this get into fistfights all the time for doing shit like this to people, so they are generally pretty good at it. Taking them out back and beating the shit out of them might work too, but I wouldn't go back to that Bar again and I would make sure that there were no witnesses around. The only way to deal with worms like this is to stomp on them right away, or expose them to the light and watch them shrivel away.

Hell YA, James! That's what I'd do if I saw some slimebag slip something in a drink. I'd make such a fuckin' scene the fucker could NOT escape! And I'm sure w/ enough guys around, the fuckwad could be held under collective citizens' arrest until the cops arrived. You're right too, it would be key to protect the spiked drink as evidence.

I think if you saw someone doing this to someone's drink , you could call the Police but the person might likely be gone by the time the Police arrive. If you were brave enough, you could attempt to place them under Citizen's arrest. To do this you must touch them while saying (in a calm but loud, clear voice) that you have just seen what they did and are now placing them under Citizen's arrest. Tell them the charge is 'Attempted Murder by means of a noxious substance.' These drugs are extremely dangerous and some people have died as a result of them. You have to be prepared to use enough force to hold them there until the Police arrive (or the bouncers get there). If you needed to, you could probably go as far as punching them out yourself and claim it was necessary to do so in self-defence (or defence of another person). To punch someone out, hit them with an uppercut underneath the jaw. The drink they spiked would be admissable as evidence, so make sure that the 'spiker' doesn't try to get rid of the drink. Legally, you could argue that it was necessary that you did this in order to stop them from putting a date-rape drug in someone's drink. You could also point to the person and shout at the top of your lungs: "HEY YOU! WHO ARE YOU? WHAT DID YOU JUST PUT INTO THAT PERSON'S DRINK JUST NOW? AND WHY? WHERE DID YOU GET THAT BOTTLE FROM? WHAT'S IN THAT BOTTLE? SHOW ME WHAT YOU HAVE IN YOUR HAND. SHOW ME NOW!" I think that the person would be pretty hard-pressed to explain their actions. This is also effective since this sort of thing usually happens in a social setting with people around. I remember a woman writing an article about doing something similar to a man who groped her on the Toronto subway. She felt a stranger's hand on her ass in the crowded subway car. She grabbed the surprised stranger's hand and held it up over her head. Then as loud as she could she said "WHOSE HAND IS THIS? WHO HAD THEIR HAND ON MY BUM? WHO PUTS THEIR HANDS ON OTHER PEOPLE'S BUMS IN THE SUBWAY?" The man that did it placed his hands over his face and ran from the subway car, crying.

Hey fuckers, Never, EVER take your eyes off your drink. I have been hearing from others that this has been happening quite a bit in the greater San Francisco Bay Area in recent weeks. Numerous people, both male and female, have been dosed with hallucinogens while at shows. One of my friends actually wants to set up a sting. When you go to the restroom or outside for a smoke, leave your drink with someone you know or finish it first. Don't let something like this or even worse happen to you or someone you know. Hi fellow fuckers - sorry for the all caps title - but this is important: I was dosed by some fucker on Wednesday @ Government Mule. Some dickhead spiked my drink and I had one of the worse experiences of my life. It was horrifying to say the least. I wouldn't wish what happened to me on anyone (except maybe Ann Coulter or Bush) I still feel weird, shaky, very anxious and hollow inside. I don't know what it was - I was terrified, hallucinating, scared out of my mind. Poor Bret - it took him hours to calm me down, I can't thank him enough for taking care of me. My love saved me! Please take care of yourselves, be aware of your surroundings, watch your drink and where you put it should you leave the immediate area - and if you ever, ever see someone dose someone's drink - DO SOMETHING. If I had been alone or riding my bike home, something fatal could have occurred as I was out of control, weeping and frightened beyond belief. I send you all - all the love in my heart Tracy
